如果说传统中国画已形成一套成熟的章法结构的话,七丁的新作在此方面的突破是十分明显的。他开始打破其习惯的也是传统的以远、中、近明显三段分布而以中景为主的立轴式章法程式,或者以一景为主辅以它物,以疏简留白为主的斗方式小品结构,而出之以饱满的西方式焦点结构的新构图。他的画面,开始出现壮阔的大场景,前、中、远景被有意识地予以自然的过渡,熟悉的竖长构图被中国传统中并不多见的陌生的横式构图(但又不是“长卷”)所代替,焦点式结构的处理给他的绘画带来一种自然朴素的意味,而民族传统中“三远”式宏观观照的方法的有机纳入,又使其构图并没有落入西方式套路。这样,平易、朴实、满密、复杂的横长构图开始给七丁的绘画带来了新的意味。

Artist Statement

Duan’s artworks break through the structural features of Chinese painting. The tradition of the vertical structure of a scroll in far-middle-near perspective brings focus on the middle, or emphasis on the white space within the square structure. Duan uses a new focus in his structural composition. His painting begins with a grand scene, then transits near-middle-far scenes naturally. The horizontal composition replaces traditional vertical composition. The combination of his focus, structure, and traditional far-middle-near perspective brings forth new meanings.
